U.S. News & World Report ranked The Johns Hopkins Hospital as the #1 hospital in the nation, and five of our adult medical specialties ranked #1 in the nation! JHH also ranked #1 in all specialties in Maryland and #1 in all specialties in Baltimore. Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center, Howard County General Hospital, Sibley Memorial Hospital and Suburban Hospital were recognized for achieving high performance in their respective regions in a number of specialties. This honor is because of the innovative, compassionate way that our nurses, physicians, researchers, staff and trainees deliver the promise of medicine. It's easy to become complacent when Hopkins is rated #1 (yawn) again. But for those of us who work in some of the cutting edge technologies of medicine (even those who don't see patients in the course of their work), it's a source of pride to claim ourselves as part of the Hopkins team. I know when I tell someone I work at Hopkins, there's a certain amount of respect granted and usually there are questions about my job. Hopkins is well-respected around the world, and the talented and committed employees who ensure the quality of patient care are a huge part of that success. So - Congrats Hopkins, but more importantly - Thank You to the team who help us attain that #1 status each year!
Wow!!! Congratulations to a good team. So proud to be working with the "A" team. Let's keep it that way.
Thanks to Lorilei Barsh, Stephanie Price and many other members of the JHM Marketing & Communications team for helping to spread the word!
Thanks so much to Tom Zuk, Shaun Grove and Bob Pollock from Zone Maintenance for braving the heat to hang the #1 Hospital in the Nation banners in the middle of the night around The Johns Hopkins Hospital. What a wonderful site to see first thing in the morning!
Carol,
Tom and the Facilities team were great partners with JHM Marketing and Communications in promoting the U.S. News & World Report Best Hospital rankings. Thanks for all your help!
I'm proud to be part of JHM every day, but today was especially exciting. When I saw the ranking, it just made sense with what I already know to be true. Congratulations to all of us who, at the end of the day, play a part in helping patients get the medical care they need.
I forgot to say that it's especially exciting to be part of something in Baltimore that I know changes lives around the world. The promise of medicine doesn't just benefit our local (or even national) community! Johns Hopkins Medicine International (JHI) just celebrated its 15th birthday...that's 15 years of helping international patients who seek medical treatment here in Baltimore (or DC or FL) and of helping institutions in other countries to improve the care they deliver locally.
In February, I attended the graduation of more than 30 nurses from a Johns Hopkins-delivered comprehensive cardiac critical care education program in Trinidad and Tobago (part of JHM's collaboration as a member of the Trinidad and Tobago Health Sciences Initiative), two days after they participated in their nation's first-ever nursing poster session. The way these nurses practice medicine is forever changed by the Johns Hopkins faculty and staff that led their training: their skills, their confidence, their pursuit of excellence.
The respect they gave me as a representative of Johns Hopkins Medicine was incredibly humbling. I was like, "You save lives...all I do is write!" But I understand their respect and gratitude. One of the nurses (she still emails me to this day) asked our photog to take a picture of us. It meant the world to me to represent JHM!
Woo hoo! This is great news! So happy to be a part of such an amazing team!
I am so proud to say that I work at the #1 Hospital!
Congratulations to All! I feel honored to work with all of you. Especially the ICU teams in CVSICU and WICU. On a daily basis I get to see greatness in action.
Susan Riddleberger, surgery nurse, was all smiles when she heard that The Johns Hopkins Hospital was ranked #1 in the nation again!
Way to go! I'm proud to be part of the best hospital in the nation!
Way to go Hopkins!
Way to go Hopkins!!
#1 in the Nation is a pretty great place to be! Congratulations to everyone who gives their best to Hopkins everyday.
This 17 year veteran of good old Hopkins is proud to know that we are #1 again. Happy to be part of this great institution.
Woo Hoo...way to go Hopkins!!!
Joshua Gay, critical care PA resident, was thrilled to learn that The Johns Hopkins Hospital reclaimed it's #1 ranking.
