At last week's town meeting at The Johns Hopkins Hospital, Paul B. Rothman, dean of the medical faculty and CEO of Johns Hopkins Medicine, asked attendees how they thought integration could best help to provide patients the right care, in the right place, at the right time across Johns Hopkins Medicine. The attendees voted via text, and their results are below.

  • Standardizing policies, procedures and purchasing—16%

Sugestion: Have community health fairs where people in the community can see providers for standard health checks.

Suggestion: Partner with rehab facilities and long-term facilities to provide some direction for the continuity of care for the patient.

Suggestion: Have nurses visit patients in their homes to follow-up on care.

Suggestion: Have providers offer some limited house calls.

Suggestion: Install software on a computer that the patient owns that would register blood pressure readings, take photos of wounds, etc.

Suggestion: Make better use of Telemedicine.

Suggestion: Provide shuttle service for a fee that would transport patients from their homes to Hopkins.

Suggestion: Provide televised and computer webinars to the public on information related to common health concerns.

Suggestion: Have Hopkins offer its own web site that will answer patient concerns. Let that site bring up chat windows so that a patient can get an appointment if needed.

Suggestion: Have a traveling Hopkins clinical van that can travel to neighborhoods and offer care.
