As Easter baskets filled with chocolate bunnies, marshmallow peeps and other treats begin to line store shelves, take a moment to think back to the days when many neighborhoods had a corner store that sold penny candies. Remember Mary Janes, jawbreakers, and the candy necklaces? Submit a comment to share your favorite candy.

RBBs is dabomb!
I loved the little ice cream cones with the marshmallow topper, anything with marshmallow!
My favorite is Peanut Chews. I took them for granted until I moved to North Carolina. They don't sell them down there but I was able to find them in Cracker Barrel. No problem finding them now that I have moved back to Maryland.
It has been so long, I can't remember which is my favorite because I loved them all. Thank goodness we can still buy Goetzes caramel creams.
Cadbury Egg! Yummmm...
PEEPS were always my favorite Easter treat, but RING POPS and POP ROCKS were on the top of my list on any other ordinary day!
Love the wax bottles with the juice in them, and the wax lips. Chewed that wax for hours. And... when they began to make the huge sweet tart candy disc... my my my!
My Mom's homemade sweet potato eggs.....secret recipe :O)
my Mom's homemade "sweet potato eggs"... secret recipe!
My favorite candy was the dots on the paper, you pick off the paper and eat. sold in sheets.
Not a Christian but my favorite candies have to be Reese's Pieces, Now-'n-Laters and blowpops. Brings me back to the 1980s. The problem is that nobody can eat just one...
Goobers, Raisinets, Marathon Bars, Charleston Chews - I could go on and on!!
That's easy. Pez. Cherry-flavored Pez. No question about it.
Awesome. Give me some skin.
peeps please! microwaved too!
Rock candy
Malt balls, Southies (light green mint-flavored chews) and Squirrel Nuts were always in my little brown sack of penny candy! Great memories.
There's not enough room for me to answer. All of it? Black jelly beans. Almost any jelly beans. Dark chocolate. Hot Tamales. Banana Laffy Taffy. Lemon drops. Blueberry vanilla lifesaver pops. Good and plenty.
I'm so hungry now...
I loved "dots" from Wockenfuss Candy store in Gardenville
Goetz' caramel cremes. I could eat them until I become sick.
i love watermelon now and laters and peanut chews...
Easter is all about the Peeps and choc covered marshmellows (in the egg crates). Growing up it was Bazooka bubble gum (now goes for $.10 or more each), the candy necklaces, and sweetarts. We used to have the mom/pop store at the end of our block. We were ALLOWED to walk that far to get candies. Ah, good memories (definitely better prices!!)!
Bit O'Honey, Squirrel Nuts, and even though I don't like them Good-n-Plenty. I did love Good-n- Fruity though.
OMG ! I just loved that penny candy, I could buy 5 pieces for a penny, Maryjane and Squirrel nuts and string licorice.
Love, love, loved Bit O'Honey and Squirrel Nuts!!!
I love to eat "peeps". I was so happy to see that the peeps come out at all of the different holidays in different forms other than the classic "chicks" or "bunny's" at Easter.
BB Bats
I loved the watermelon and apple "Now & Laters" and I loved the waffle napoleon ice cream sandwiches that cost only 25 cents! That delicious ice cream was from Arundel Ice Cream Company and it was particularly "creamy". In addition, I loved the sour onions and pickles in the jar! Hmmm....brings back the days when my brother and I would save our allowance for a few weeks, splurg after school on a Friday evening at "Ms. Mary's Corner Store, and leave the store singing with a full bag of candy that lasted us for two weeks!
OMG.....Me too,,,that takes me wayyyyyy back!!
If we're talking Easter Basket candy, my favorite is the old-fashioned jelly beans. I can never find the right kind anymore - there are so many types including skittles varieties. Jujubees are my all-time favorite candy, with frozen Milky Way on a stick as favorite chocolate candy! One "penny" candy that I wish they still make is a nougat candy half pink-half white with bits of jelly candy in it. Brach's makes a poor version of it that is just not the same!
Junior Mints.....closely followed with stale Easter Peeps (cut a hole in the file so they harden)
Stale Peeps are the BEST!
Frozen 3 Muskateers Bar or frozen Milky Way
Dark Chocolate anything!
Peanut Chews! Red Hots until they cracked my tooth.
Zero bars!
Nestle's Chunky
Nothing beats a "Reester bunny" - AKA Reese's cups!
Peach Chews
I have a real sweet tooth, so quite a few candies come to mind. My favorite(s), in no particular order are: Zero candy bars, rainbow coconut candies, and the Mary Sue coconut cream Easter eggs (in fact, when I find any of these in a store, since they're so hard to find, I usually buy several to have in "sugar emergencies" LOL).
Love............lemon heads & mike & ikes
OMG... lemon heads, and red hots too.
Choc.butter cream eggs....yummmmm
solid chocolate rabbit ears, milk duds
Sugar Babies
OH YEAH!
Sugar Babies, Sugar Momma, and Sugar Daddy too. Just Sugar!!!!
Caravelles
Pecan nougat eggs and peeps.
PEEPS!
Boston Baked Beans; Johnny Apple Seeds
OMG, Me too! Boston Baked Beans hands down!
YUP, Boston Baked Beans!!!
Chick-O-Sticks
I love Kinder Bueno (or anything of the Kinder brand!)
