Outside- All games! Anything to be able to stay outside!
Inside- We played school on the inside steps, there were many steps so you had a lot of grades to go thru and get the answers to hard questions correctly. Oldest Sister would be the teacher. Learned a lot from the older girls- there were 10 of us! But my favorite was paper dolls, cutting them out of the McCall magazine along with there clothes and also creating your new clothes.
My all time favorite back in the day games are Sorry and my forever favorite, Scrabble.
Crossfire!
outdoors: variations of freeze tag(cartoon, movie and tv shows), jacks, hopscotch, double dutch, wall ball, dodge ball, king ball, rollerskating and bike riding in the neighborhood
indoors: spirograph, ants in your pants, dominoes, crazy eight card games, 500 card game, clue, chutes n ladders, operation, monopoly, trivia and go fish
Good times!!
My sister and I loved KNex, the snap-together engineering toy. We would create all sorts of large contraptions in our home's living area - good thing our parents let us take over!
Trouble,Sorry,Beat the clock as kids we spent hours and with the family
AS Kids we were only allowed in the front yard and accasionally the backyard if there was an adult with us.
Oustide: Jump Rope, Red Light Green Light, Hop Scotch, and lots of hand games
Inside: Uno, Monopoly, Jenga, and Triva games made up by us.
Tippit!
Operation
Monopoly
Go Fish
Barbie dolls
Roller skating!
Clue was my favorite on a Saturday with your friends.
MOUSETRAP !!!!!
Jacks and pick up sticks-roller skating in your own street and cracking the whip...Mother may I..
Operation
Candyland
Pacman
I always liked spin the bottle!!
Jacks, Monolopy (UK version), Snakes & Ladder.
Canasta or Clue under a shade tree on hot days. Cooler evenings: Kick the Can Tag.
TROUBLE AND SORRY
My favorite indoor game was Spirograph (piece of cardboard, covered with paper, and pieces pinned to that with small tacks/pins - there were gear-like wheels which fitted into the teeth of the pieces pinned to the cardboard, and when you "spun" the gears around the pieces it drew patterns and designs) - I still have mine and hope to pass it to my granddaughter one day.
My favorite outdoor game was ghost in the garden (one person was the mother/father, who sent the "children" to the "cellar" to wash for dinner; you had to pass through a "garden" where you were confronted with a ghost - if you got caught by the ghost, you were the ghost the next time, and the ghost was promoted to the parent) lots of running & screaming, Great fun!
Jumping double dutch....what a workout now, plenty of fun then.
Operation!
Monopoly is the best ever!!!
My younger brother and I always played the game "Operation"! He always beat me the majority of the time because he had such a steady hand and rarely touched the sides causing the patient's nose to light up. LOL! 🙂
I can remember this like yesterday. I loved playing jacks & checkers.
Outside: Capture the Flag.
Inside: Mille Bornes & Pit.
My brother and neighborhood friends played a cut-throat version of CLUE. It was so much fun!
Monopoly- we would have monopoly marathons, games that lasted several days.
Monopoly was one of my favorite games. It was always a race between my brother and I to see who could buy up all the hotels and put the most houses on them first. My family still plays this game when we go on family vacations together.
Outside games were always my favorite. Me and the neighborhood kids were always playing Duck Duck Goose, Mother May I, and Tag. I so miss those days!!
Trivial Pursuit- I felt was a very knowledgeable game because even when you did not know the answer it was an opportunity to learn something and there were many editions such as; young edition, sports, silver screen just to name a few.
