I've always supported our troops, even though I pray for peace. Several family members joined the service and served while I was growing up. My ultimate show of support was in 1999 when both my children (son and daughter) joined the Marines. It was heartbreaking for me, knowing they could easily find themselves in harm's way, but at the same time I was proud they wanted to make the commitment. Years later they still have close contact with friends they met in the Corps, and some of the lessons they learned are evident in their behaviors even now.
My husband when he was deployed to Iraq in 2007-2008.
Proud to have served in 2002 during Operation Enduring Freedom & Operation Southern Watch. Currently the Sr. Logistics Coordinator for The Johns Hopkins Lifeline Transport Team. I thank the US Navy for giving me the skills and knowledge that I utilize to be successful in my life and career.
Godspeed to all those before & after!
My husband, Master Sergeant Rodríguez, has been in the US Air Force for almost 20 years. Being a military family is not easy, but it is very rewarding in other ways. I’m so proud that he has made protecting others his career. ¡Te amo mi cielo!
I have the U.S. military to thank for my life. My dad's 27-year career as an Air Force officer included a stint in Iran where my parents decided to adopt a local baby. The orphanage wasn't the best and I'm lucky to have survived it. I became a U.S. citizen a few years later in Ohio.
I also thank the military for exposing me to all different parts of the States: after Ohio, we lived in four other states, including my "home" state of Hawai'i. Aloha!
I am the proud older sister to Tim Montgomery, a corporal in the U.S. Marine Corps. Here is a photo of him in Mihail Kogalniceanu, Constanta, Romania--one of the stops on his most recent deployment. He and his wife, Abby, are driving cross-country at the moment, from their previous post in Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, to Camp Pendleton, in sunny California. Oorah!
