One of the more enduring holiday traditions is the plethora of christmas songs that hit the airwaves of radios, shopping malls and elevators everywhere in December. From original ditties to modern pop updates, there are thousands of versions of holiday songs that have existed for decades. But only certain songs take you back to being "like a kid on Christmas" and the excitement and wonder that came with the season.
So in the holiday spirit, sing out and tell us which classic songs remind you of holidays from your youth and feel free to share any of those special memories in today's Throwback Thursday.

jingle bells
For me and my family, Christmas truly begins when we here The Christmas Song by Nat King Cole and Silent Night by The Temptations.
Little Drummer Boy. By Lou Rawls.
Christmas is my family's absolute best time of the year. Christmas would not be Christmas without some Dolly Parton, Vince Vaugh and the Valiant (All I want for Christmas is you), there are just way too many songs to mention but definitely Dolly, can have Christmas without her.
The entire movie "Scrooge"! Not Scrooged, not a Christmas Carol but Scrooge - I HAVE to watch that movie every Christmas season or my holiday is NOT complete!!
The leader of the pack of Christmas songs "White Christmas" by Bing Crosby
"Ave' Maria" in addition to all of the above.
Too many to list here: Santa Baby was added to my list of favorites just a few years ago, but the songs from the Christmas specials (Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, Frosty The Snowman) still conjure images from my childhood. I think my top favorites when I was a child were "I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus" (because it was so beyond my comprehension for this to actually happen), "All I Want For Christmas Is My Two Front Teeth," and "I'm Getting Nuttin' For Christmas." (The last one always reminds me of my mischievous brothers - it always amazed me that these "bad" boys got as much as me, when I'd been "really good" all year long!)
Little Drummer Boy by the Man in Black. ps many excellent choices on this survey, will steal selected one for my Wintry Mix playlist on Spotify.
Christmas Time is Here from Charlie Brown does it for me. I have watched it since I was a kid back in the 60's. I watched it again last week. I had forgotten the ads for Dolly Madison pastries until this yr that were on when I was younger. .
Silent Night by the Temptations

Those are such great, classic songs that will make you start singing and smiling right in the middle of the store while holiday shopping. 🙂

Sleigh Ride, Arthur Fiedler and the Boston Pops
Santa Claus is Coming to Town, Jackson Five
Overture to Hansel and Gretel, Engelbert Humperdinck
"Oh Holy NIght"
It just wouldn't be Christmas in our house until we heard the jingle bells song by the barking dogs! I would listen to this on my transister radio and know that the Season had arrived!
