The Hustle was my all-time favorite because I had some pretty smooth moves of my own that I had incorporated into it. It always got me "all eyes on me" when I would do it on the dance floor at events and clubs and that's when I used to go to clubs.
Does lindy hop count considering I go to the mobtown ballrom 1-2 times a week? Boom!
The Bump from my teenage years; Hand dancing and the BOP, my moms favorite. The Madison and Cha cha my GRANDma enjoyed the classics ; and numerous line dances I've learned in the last 20 years. I'm a DANCER at heart so I could go on and on..... The world of dance is a world of ENJOYMENT.
The Kid and Play, the Roger Rabbit (late 80's early 90's)
Tango is the sexiest dancing ever, but I love to Salsa.
Correction: Not the Earl Flynn, but "The Prep." Everyone loved to do that dance back in the day!
Can't forget the Earl Flynn!
The Rock! Another 70's favorite.
The Hustle! It was the beginning of partner dancing being cool again instead of doing your own thing on the dance floor. Disco wasn't popular with everyone but I loved it and still do. So glad I got to live thru that era and even saved 2 of my Disco dresses. Dancing is great for body, mind, and soul and I highly recommend it.
Let me see that "tootsie Roll"
I agree the Madison was the precursor to the line dances so many enjoy these days. So, if I'm line dancing, I like the electric slide. If I'm fast dancing with one partner (as opposed to many partners in the electric slide) I like to attempt a version of jitterbug or swing dancing. But a slow dance (foxtrot or waltz) with my favorite guy is the best!
The Bump and The Hustle! Disco forever!!
I love to hear them play a twist song. Usually that is one I will get up & dance to. Also, I like to get out on the floor to SHOUT! Getting a little harder to go "lower to the floor" but I still try.
You gotta know it
It's electric
Boogie woogie, woogie!
Now you can't hold it
It's electric
Boogie woogie, woogie!
But you know it's there,
Yeah here there everywhere...
The Bump!! (so 70s)!
The Macarena!
My favorite dance was The Madison. It was a popular line dance during the 50s and 60s, and originated out of Columbus, Ohio. I know there have been many more since, but that one particular line dance captured my attention because of the number of different components to the dance (steps included the Double Cross, the Cleveland Box, The Basketball (with Wilt Chamberlain), the Big "M", the "T" Time, the Jackie Gleason, the Birdland, and The Rifleman). Baltimore popularity originated from the Buddy Dean Show, of which I was an avid watcher and at-home participant.
My favorite throwback dance was the "funky chicken".
