I am a true football fan however I never like to be at a disadvantage as far as the basics. I am surprised I did so well!
I also question the correct answer to #2. If the definition of "on the field" means defensive players "in the field of play" then 8 is the correct answer as the catcher is not "in the field of play." If you are considering both teams and the field is defined as any player from either team, then 10 would be correct as the batter (while not in-the-field-of-play) in the batter's box would be counted.
Having been a avid baseball fan for over 60 years, and I know that I read it somewhere but the first recorded game was sometimes in June of 1846 in Hoboken, NJ. I believe it was between 2 NY teams.
That is not entirely true. There are at least ten during play. The tenth, being the batter from the apposing team but also on the field.
The answer for #2 could be seen as eight since the catcher is not officially within the foul lines.
Or 10 if you count the batter...
13 if bases are loaded
I enjoy the Hopkins Happenings.....it's always a nice way to start the day! ๐
Baseball is not my favorite sport; I rarely watch. I was surprised I did as well as I did with the trivia.
Love the game of baseball and all its history.
