Hitting the gym to "lose weight" is self defeating but it does make people healthier. Clinicians should encourage people properly in how to meet each distinct goal.

It would be nice to see the references for the answers as there are many studies done on the amount of exercise needed.
Also, what is considered to be normal weight fluctuation over the years?
